Great old style Hotel accommodation. Room was comfortable but a bit small. In the heart of the city but very quiet. Large verandah with table and chairs. Walking distance to various pubs and cafes. Continetal breakfast available each morning in the dining room. Enjoyed our stay.

A massive thank you to everyone at the Royal Exchange - right from giving lots of dinner recommendations when I checked in, then letting me extend my stay at the last minute, and then especially to Ray as I was leaving, who let me stay in my room past check-out time, then insisted I stayed in their (very comfortable!) Lounge while waiting for my flight, and then spent ages calling around taxis who didn't come and eventually arranging for a local tour bus driver to run me to the airport. After being looked after like that, I wish I could stay forever!

Overall a very pleasant experience . Just a short walk from the train station and a welcome relief after a full day of travel. Bed was comfortable and rooms are large and well appointed. Beautiful high ceilings and a touch of yesteryear. Bathroom was adequate given the age of the hotel and conveniently positioned to the side of the room.
We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed the central location with Argent Street shops and Tourist Information Office within easy walking distance.
Plenty of off street parking available , particularly if you are exploring during the day and returning to the hotel. We utilised the plentiful parking across the road with 2 hours parking restriction from 8.30 am allowing time for breakfast or a sleep in.
The location was very quiet and restful. Suffice to say that we were happy with our choice and would stay again without hesitation.
